Art Making with Chinese Characters and Poetry Response: Vermont Student Work to be Published in Bilingual Grant-Funded Book

This blog is dedicated to learning Chinese through art.

Southeastern Vermont students have been creating Word Art and Poetry inspired by Chinese characters and learning the etymology of characters and meanings.

In 2022, with an Artists In Schools Grant from Vermont Arts Council, students of The Putney School  have been exploring and celebrating their creative expression. Word Art 2022 has been published by CX Silver Gallery Press as of September 2022, and registered with the Library of Congress, the book available for preview and purchase at magcloud.com/browse/issue/2277187.

In 2011, with Arts Endowment Grant from Vermont Community Foundation, students of Windham Southwest, Southeast and Central Supervisory Unions, and Grammar School together created art and poetry inspired by Chinese characters. Word Art 2011 published by CX Silver Gallery Press, registered with the Library of Congress, available at public libraries in Windham County, Vermont, is available for preview and purchase at magcloud.com/browse/issue/200647.
